Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta off Colombia's Caribbean sea is the world's highest, glacier-capped, coastal mountain range. It is a Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the “world’s most irreplaceable” nature reserve (Science journal) for its concentration of threatened species.
The Linea Negra is a ring of 54 sacred sites around the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta defining the “Heart of the Earth”. This is the ancestral territory of the Kogui, Arhuaco, Wiwa, and Kankumano Indigenous Peoples, descendants of the pre-European Tairona civilization.
TAIRONA Ancestral is mountain shade-grown and biodiversity-friendly artisanal coffee, by ASO-Arhuaco. It is cultivated on small forest farms intermingled with vegetables and fruit trees, and hand-picked and washed and sun-dried, to quality standards set by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia.
Aso-Arhuaco is an Indigenous Peoples community association in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Aso-Arhuaco promotes ancestral land recovery, keeping of traditional environmental values, social institutions, and culture, and sustainable territorial development, primarily through coffee production.
